On observing the unrest in places like Tunisia, Egypt, Syria and Jordan one sometimes hears individuals arguing for the return of a Muslim form of government called a Caliphate and Sharia Law. Depending on who is talking about the Caliphate it could resemble a western republic with voting and representation or it could be a theocracy where only clerics are allowed to have power. Sharia law is Islamic law and again how it is implemented depends on who is implementing it. Is the Koran to be interpreted and enacted into law literally and who is doing the interpretation?
As I am not a Muslim and as I prefer our constitutional republic, what I think is that it is too bad that we cannot simply get out of the Middle East and leave them to their own devices. I continue to believe that the reason we don’t is that rich and corrupt men amongst the democrats and republicans want to keep us addicted to foreign oil. No matter who takes the congress or the presidency all that is said about freedom from foreign oil by American politicians are lies. How do we know this? No matter who is put in we get more and more dependent every year. Never less.
Always look at two things and two things only when it comes to politicians. What they do and what are the results of what they do. What they say has all the value of garbage and parrot droppings. Every time a politician speaks, you have been given an IQ test. Are you stupid enough to believe the lies you have just been told?
