Al Gore Says Govt Subsidized Corn Ethanol a Mistake

Al Gore Says Government Subsidization of  Corn Ethanol was a Mistake

It has been clear for some time that the only reason why the government subsidized  corn-based ethanol was to buy the votes of farmers in states like Iowa, where one of the early presidential sweepstakes is held every election year.  Politics is rarely a good reason to do anything and it is particularly a bad basis for energy policy.

Al Gore has not completely learned his lesson since he says that it was a mistake for government to subsidize the early version of corn-based ethanol.   This is the problem with being a democrat, a liberal, a progressives, a socialist, a Marxist or a communist.  You always insist that government really is the solution and that the problem is that the right kind of government was not applied in the right way at the right time.

Given that Obama still needs to buy the votes of Iowa farmers if he wants to run for president again, what are the chances that he will choose that which is right and good over that which is political and expedient?

It has been argued that lobbyists are inherently immoral since they have no problem supporting a cause they know to be wrong as long as they get paid.  Thee corn ethanol lobby  will not likely  lay down their arms and go away.  Instead, it has been reported that they are unhappy that Mr Gore will no longer support their effort to steal tax payers dollars, destroy our cars fuel systems with ethanol laden gas, ruin the economies of the third world and threaten the world’s food supplies.  If ever there was a devil’s advocate, surely the corn based ethanol is it.  In my very own personal opinion, what corn ethanol lobbyists advocate is Satanic.
