How to Enter Sweepstakes and Contests

Those who have been in the sweepstakes game a decade or more may remember the bad old days.  We used to have to spend our own money on 3×5 cards and sometimes even SASEs (Stamped self addressed envelopes).

Yes we walked to school uphill both ways in the snow, naked and loved it!!!

But seriously, these days the main thing entering contests and sweepstakes costs you is time.  Another cost can be spam if enter a contest where they sell your information or if you opt into their newsletters and such.  But then you don’s expect someone to give you a million dollars for nothing do you?

One of the main rules for modern contesting is never pay for anything.  If someone asks for money, it’s a rip off.

There are exceptions to every rule.  For instance, there may well be legitimate poetry contests with entry fees. But there are a lot of poetry “contests” that are just another way to separate you from your money.

It is better to stick with high profile websites that gather up the legitimate sweepstakes and send out the information to subscribers or make it available to visitors.  Sweepstaking is like anything else, if you receive an unexpected sweepstakes offer from a company you never heard of that link in your email will probably infect your computer with a virus.  At the very least they may try to steal your identity.

I very much like the notion of winning enough money to change my life instantly.  A million dollars or at least $5,000 per week for life would just about do that. For that reason, publisher’s clearing house and all their little lottos and games is my favorite.

About Sweepstakes

These are my only two sources for sweepstakes.  I enter plenty of sweepstakes every day but I don’t make sweepstaking my life’s work.  After all, the chances of winning a big sweepstakes is similar to getting hit by lightning.  Do you plan your life around the possiblity of getting hit by lightning?  In my view, you should only enter sweepstakes as a fun hobby that pays off in T shirts and coupons once in awhile.  Paying some service to automatically enter a sweepstakes strikes me as  a waste of money so I don’t do it.

If you feel your need more sweepstakes just Google sweepstakes and stick with the first page that comes up on Google.  I have found that the further you stray from the popular on Google the more like you are to hit some viruses or malware.
